Aura Bionics Inc. ("Aura Bionics", "we", "our", "us") is a technology company based in Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how the Aura Hydrate mobile application ("the Service") handles information.
The short version: Aura Hydrate is fully anonymous. We do not collect names, emails, locations, photos, or any personal information. Your hydration logs, streaks, glass settings, and progress live entirely on your own device. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible.
What is stored on your device only:
- Hydration logs: when you log a glass of water, the time, and the volume.
- Daily streak: counted locally based on the days you logged at least one glass.
- App settings: chosen glass size (200/250/350 ml), daily target, your first name (optional, only stored on device for the in-app greeting), notification preference, sound preference.
- Onboarding state: whether you have completed onboarding.
This data is stored using your operating system's standard local key/value storage (SharedPreferences on Android, UserDefaults on iOS). It does not leave your device.
What is processed off-device:
- Subscription receipts: only if you choose to subscribe to Aura Hydrate Pro. The receipt is processed by Apple/Google and forwarded to RevenueCat for entitlement validation. We receive only an anonymous user ID and your purchase status.
- Crash reports (optional, future versions): anonymized stack traces with no personal data, used solely to fix bugs. You will be able to opt out in app settings.
2. What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or process any of the following:
- Your name, email, phone number, or any contact information (the optional first name you can enter in onboarding stays on your device only).
- Your real location, IP address (beyond what Apple/Google relay for purchase verification), or device identifiers tied to your identity.
- Photos, camera access, microphone access, or biometric data of any kind.
- Health, fitness, or medical records from HealthKit, Google Fit, or any other source.
- Contact lists, calendar events, or any other data from your device.
- Browsing history or usage outside of Aura Hydrate.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising. We do not sell or rent any data. We do not share data with data brokers.
3. How Data Is Used
The on-device data is used solely to:
- Display your hydration progress, streaks, and daily total
- Trigger reminder notifications you have enabled
- Show your league rank (computed locally from anonymous, aggregate signals; see Section 5)
- Provide simple, on-device personalized feedback ("nice pace", "halfway there")
Subscription data (received via Apple/Google + RevenueCat) is used solely to verify entitlement to Aura Hydrate Pro features.
4. Permissions Aura Hydrate Requests
Notifications: only if you opt in during onboarding or in settings. Used to send hydration reminders. You can revoke notification permission at any time from your device settings; the app will continue to work without them.
Aura Hydrate does not request: camera, microphone, contacts, location, photo library, calendar, health/fitness, or any other sensitive permission.
5. Third Parties
The Service uses the minimum number of third-party providers needed to deliver subscriptions and (optionally) basic stability monitoring.

Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat: revenuecat.com/privacy
- Firebase: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
6. Data Retention
- On-device data: kept until you uninstall Aura Hydrate. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all hydration logs, streaks, and settings stored locally.
- Subscription records: retained by Apple/Google and RevenueCat per their respective policies, typically as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (commonly 7 years). These are tied to your Apple/Google account, not to any personal data we hold.
- Future anonymized telemetry: aggregated indefinitely as it cannot be linked to an individual.
You can fully wipe your Aura Hydrate footprint by uninstalling the app and cancelling any active subscription via your Apple/Google account.
7. Age Requirements
Aura Hydrate is designed for users aged 18 and over.
You are required to confirm you are 18 or older during onboarding. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used Aura Hydrate, please contact info@aurabionics.com and we will assist with any concerns. Because Aura Hydrate stores no personal data on our servers, there is no server-side data to delete. Uninstalling the app erases everything locally.
8. International Compliance
We operate in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including:
- PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Canada)
- Ontario privacy legislation
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, European Union)
- UK GDPR (United Kingdom)
- CCPA / CPRA (California Consumer Privacy Act, where applicable)
- LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, Brazil)
BIPA (Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act) does not apply: Aura Hydrate does not collect biometric identifiers or biometric information of any kind.
Because Aura Hydrate stores no personally identifying information, most data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are satisfied by the fact that no data exists outside your own device. If you have a specific privacy request under any of the laws above, contact info@aurabionics.com.
9. Data Security
We apply the following safeguards:
- All network communication with Apple, Google, and RevenueCat happens over encrypted channels (HTTPS/TLS).
- Local on-device storage relies on the OS's standard sandboxed key/value store, isolated from other apps.
- The minimum number of third-party SDKs is integrated, each vetted for compliance.
No system is impenetrable. However, because Aura Hydrate holds no personal data on our servers, the breach surface is intentionally near-zero.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through:
- An in-app notice the next time you open Aura Hydrate
- An updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
